SURGEONS: A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH

In February 2023, Cathy Jones joined the award-winning Brinkworth team to produce a new observational documentary series for UK broadcaster Channel 5. Surgeons: A Matter of Life or Death follows medical professionals at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham undertaking critical, life-saving operations. 

Cathy produced Episode 1 of this critically acclaimed blue light series and her film was described by The Times as “Phenomenal. The most astounding show on television”. The programme featured Stephen, a man with a highly aggressive mouth tumour, who was facing just months to live without surgery - which involved having his lower jaw, tongue and teeth removed. His new jaw was sculptured from his fibula bone and a new tongue made from leg tissue.
